The 2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid has the best fuel economy in its class, with an EPA estimated 20 MPG in the city and 21 MPG on the highway.5 The sophisticated 2-Mode Hybrid system utilizes two types of power: energy created by the gas engine and electricity generated by the electric motors. The engine's regenerative braking feature captures some of the energy lost during braking and coasting and stores it in the 300-volt battery pack for future use. The first Cadillac to use Active Fuel Management, the Escalade Hybrid also senses when you don't need the full power of eight cylinders and automatically adjusts to run on four, saving you even more gas.
