WHAT IS THE CADILLAC POWERTRAIN WARRANTY?

Cadillac will warrant each 2013 vehicle for 6-years or 70,000-miles (5-years/100,000-miles for 2012 and older models) from the original in-service date of the vehicle. The limited warranty is fully transferable and there are no fees and no deductibles. The Roadside Assistance and Courtesy Transportation programs are also standard during the length of the warranty. For more details, please visit your Cadillac dealer.

HOW IS THE BUMPER-TO-BUMPER WARRANTY AFFECTED BY THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY?

The bumper-to-bumper New Vehicle Limited Warranty on new Cadillac cars and light-duty trucks remains in effect for 4-years or 50,000-miles, whichever comes first. For more details, please visit your Cadillac dealer.

WHY HAS CADILLAC ELECTED TO MAKE A CHANGE TO THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY TERM FOR 2013 AND FUTURE VEHICLES?

Cadillac-specific data shows that the majority of Cadillac owners will reach the 5-year warranty expiration faster than the 100,000-mile threshold. By changing the term to 6-year/70,000-mile, Cadillac is committed in providing you with an additional 12 months of coverage.

WHAT IS COURTESY TRANSPORTATION?

Whenever warranty repairs are required, several transportation options and/or reimbursement of certain transportation expenses are available for your convenience at participating dealers or retailers. Courtesy Transportation is included for 6-years or 70,000-miles for 2013 models and 5-years/100,000-miles for 2012 and older Cadillac vehicles.

WILL I GET A LOANER VEHICLE WHEN MY CAR IS IN FOR SERVICE?

During the warranty coverage period, Cadillac provides alternate transportation and/or reimbursement of certain transportation expenses under the Courtesy Transportation Program if your vehicle requires warranty repairs. Several transportation options are available. Refer to your Owner’s Manual for details, including reservation of rights, or consult your dealer/retailer.

WHAT SERVICES ARE COVERED IN MY BUMPER-TO-BUMPER LIMITED WARRANTY?

Cadillac backs your new vehicle with its no deductible, Bumper-to-Bumper Limited Warranty. The entire vehicle is warranted for repairs, including parts and labor, to correct any defects in materials or workmanship for 4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first (except routine maintenance). The warranty covers towing to the nearest GM dealership, and there is no deductible for warranty repairs during the warranty period. The warranty transfers automatically with vehicle ownership during the warranty period.

IS MY VEHICLE COVERED FROM RUST, TOO?

Cadillac vehicles are designed and built to resist corrosion. All body and sheet metal components are warranted against rust for 4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. Any sheetmetal that actually rusts through, causing an actual hole in the sheetmetal, is covered for up to 6 years, unlimited miles. Application of additional rust-inhibiting materials is neither necessary nor required under the Sheet Metal Coverage. Cadillac makes no recommendations concerning the usefulness or value of such products. Application of after-manufacture rustproofing products may create an environment which reduces the corrosion resistance built into your vehicle. Repairs to correct damage caused by such applications are not covered under your New Vehicle Limited Warranty. See your Cadillac dealer for terms of this limited warranty.

DO I HAVE TO GO THE CADILLAC DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE TO HAVE THIS TYPE OF WORK PERFORMED?

While most customers prefer to have this type of work performed at their selling dealer, it can be performed at any Cadillac dealership.

CAN I TAKE MY CADILLAC TO ANY GM DEALERSHIP FOR WARRANTY REPAIRS?

These repairs must be performed by an Authorized Cadillac dealer, except in an emergency situation when a covered part or a Cadillac dealer is not reasonably available to the vehicle owner. It's in your best interest to take your Cadillac vehicle to a Cadillac dealer for all repairs since they are the most knowledgeable about the particulars of your vehicle.

SAFETY

WHAT MAKES AN AIR BAG INFLATE?

In a frontal or near-frontal impact of sufficient severity, the air bag sensing system detects that the vehicle is suddenly stopping as a result of a crash. The sensing system triggers a release of inflation gas. This gas inflates the air bag. The inflator, air bag, and related hardware are all part of the air bag module packed inside the steering wheel for the driver air bag and in the instrument panel for the right front passenger air bag.

WHEN SHOULD AN AIR BAG INFLATE?

The air bag is designed to inflate in moderate to severe frontal or near-frontal crashes. The air bag will inflate only if the impact speed is above the system's designed "threshold level." If your vehicle goes straight into a wall that doesn't move or deform, the threshold level is about 14 to 18 mph (23 to 29 km/h). The threshold level can vary, however, with specific vehicle design, so that it can be somewhat above or below this range. If your vehicle strikes something that will move or deform, such as a parked car, the threshold level will be higher. Inflation is determined by the angle of the impact and the vehicle's deceleration.

WILL A SIDE OR REAR IMPACT OR ROLLOVER CAUSE THE AIR BAG TO DEPLOY?

If the vehicle is equipped with seat mounted side impact or roof rail mounted head curtain air bags, those will deploy in a side impact. If the vehicle is equipped with a roll over capable head curtain air bags, a roll over sensor will deploy the head curtain air bags in a roll over incident. The frontal air bags will not deploy in a side impact or roll over, unless there is also a front or front-corner impact of sufficient severity to trigger the frontal airbags. The airbags will not deploy in a rear impact.

IS IT STILL NECESSARY TO WEAR A SAFETY BELT WITH THE SUPPLEMENTAL INFLATABLE RESTRAINT SYSTEM?

Yes! The air bag supplements the protection provided by the shoulder belts. Remember, the air bag is designed to inflate in moderate-to-severe frontal and near-frontal crashes. Safety belts can provide protection in impacts other than frontal and near-frontal collisions.

WHERE CAN I FIND INFORMATION ABOUT AIR BAGS/SUPPLEMENTAL INFLATABLE RESTRAINTS ON CADILLAC VEHICLES?

To learn about the specific items on your vehicle, please refer to Section 1 in your Cadillac Owner's Manual, "Seats and Restraint Systems."

WHAT KIND OF CHILD-SAFETY SEATS SHOULD I USE IN MY CADILLAC VEHICLE?

There are no specific child restraints that Cadillac recommends or endorses, but we do have some information that might be helpful to you. Cadillac's seats and safety belt systems are designed to accommodate child restraints. However, we cannot be certain that all child restraints will be compatible with Cadillac vehicles. Our cars conform to SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) J1819 standard, which is a recommended guideline for automotive safety belt and child restraint compatibility. Therefore, child restraints that conform to this standard will be more compatible with the seats and safety belt systems used in Cadillac vehicles. Also, your Cadillac Dealer can install a tether anchor kit (at no charge to you) that will anchor front-facing child seats. First, we recommend you work with a child-safety seat manufacturer, or a local retail outlet that sells child restraint seats, for possible suggestions on what type of seat would be most appropriate for your needs. You could also take your child restraint to a checkup event or contact a local CPS technician for additional assistance. There are a couple of websites that have some good information on this topic. Try these: NHTSA at www.nhtsa.dot.gov; National Safe Kids www.safekids.org; Safety Beltsafe USA www.carseat.org; American Academy of Pediatrics https://www.healthychildren.org/English/safety-prevention/on-the-go/pages/Car-Safety-Seats-Information-for-Families.aspx. In addition, you might want to try checking with your local hospital, police department and fire department for any information they might have.

WHY IS TIRE PRESSURE IMPORTANT

Improperly inflated tires are a leading cause of tire failure. Proper tire pressure helps a tire have optimum tread contact with the road, which can optimize traction and braking and minimize tire wear. Underinflated tires generate heat, so maintaining the right amount of air helps keep temperatures where they should be.

WHAT SHOULD MY TIRE PRESSURE BE?

The driving ability and performance ease of your Cadillac comes with a suite of benefits, one being the Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS).

If pressure in one or more of your tires falls 25 percent below the vehicle manufacturerlow recommended cold inflation pressure for 20 minutes, a warning indication will notify you. If the tire pressure fallsbelow MAP (minimum air pressure), however, the warning indicator illuminates right away.

WHY SHOULD TIRES BE ROTATED, AND WHEN?

Tire rotation is imperative to help maintain a uniform wear on all four of your Cadillac’s tires. Our Certified Service experts recommend your Cadillac’s tires be rotated every 7,500 miles to help prevent irregular wear. Consult your Owner's Manual for additional information about your specific vehicle regarding tire rotation and wheel alignment.

HOW DO I CHECK MY TRANSMISSION FLUID?

Consult your Owner's Manual for information about your specific vehicle regarding transmission fluid checks and requirements.

WHEN SHOULD I CHANGE THE OIL?

When the “Change Engine Oil Soon” message appears, oil change service is necessary for the vehicle as soon as possible, or within the next 600 miles.

If driving under the best conditions, the engine Oil Life System might not indicate the need for vehicle service within a year. The motor oil and filter must be changed at least once a year and the engine Oil Life System will need to be reset. Your Cadillac dealer has Certified Service expert technicians who will perform this work and reset the system. Click here to schedule service.

WHERE CAN I FIND MY OWNER'S MANUAL?

Click here to scroll through your Owner's Manual or view helpful how-to videos to learn everything there is to know about your vehicle's features and operation.

The warranty transfers automatically with vehicle ownership during the warranty period.

I INPUT MY NAME AND ADDRESS, BUT MY VEHICLE IS NOT SHOWING UP. WHY?

If you purchased your vehicle through a private sale, your vehicle ownership information may not be updated in our system. You can register this vehicle by inputting your vehicle’s Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) into the Cadillac Owner Center. If you purchased a new or used vehicle from a dealer, it may be a few weeks before your vehicle information is updated in our system.

WHAT DO I DO WHEN THE SYSTEM DOES NOT RECOGNIZE MY VIN?

There are several reasons that we may not recognize your VIN. If your vehicle is a new purchase, it may take up to 45 days for the VIN to be input into our systems. Or, perhaps the VIN was entered incorrectly. Please follow the instructions below.

Step 1: Check to make sure you entered the correct VIN number by clicking on the Edit Vehicle Information button below.

Step 2: If your VIN was entered correctly, it means that our system has not processed your vehicle purchase yet. You will still be able to access a wide variety of Cadillac Owner Center information if you re-register by Year, Make and Model. Just do the following:

1. On the Edit Vehicle Information page, remove the vehicle you just registered
2. Click Add Vehicle. You will re-enter the vehicle registration process. Then, register by Year, Make, and Model from the bottom of the page and click “Save.”
3. Return to the edit vehicle information page and enter your VIN, then click Save and Finish. Once your vehicle is in our system, usually 45 days after purchase, information specific to your vehicle will be displayed.

If you made a typing error and your VIN is incorrect, you can re-register the vehicle with the correct VIN. Just do the following:

1. On the Edit Vehicle Information page, remove the vehicle you just registered
2. Click Add Vehicle. You will re-enter the vehicle registration process and may enter the correct VIN.

If your VIN is still not recognized, you can start a Live Chat with our experts or call 1-866-694-6546 for assistance.

If you own a vehicle that was not purchased in the United States, unfortunately we can’t recognize your vehicle at this time. Please visit your vehicle brand site for more information.
