INTRODUCING CADILLAC SUPER CRUISETM
THE WORLD'S FIRST TRUE HANDS-FREE DRIVING SYSTEM
FOR THE FREEWAY

"Our philosophy behind Super Cruise is to
elevate driving, safely and simply."

- JOHAN DE NYSSCHEN, PRESIDENT OF CADILLAC

HOW TO USE IT

Super Cruise is available only on limited-access freeways that are separated from opposing traffic.

Super Cruise is designed to be available and engage only under the following conditions:

· Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is on

· Forward Collision System set to alert and brake

· The vehicle is on a limited-access freeway

· Camera or radar sensors are not covered, obstructed, or damaged

· The system detects that the driver appears attentive

· The lane markings are clearly visible – lane markings may be obscured, for example, by glare or poor weather conditions

· Teen Driver is not active

STEP 1:

In order to use Super Cruise, first press the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) button
on the steering wheel to turn on Adaptive Cruise Control. The symbol will
illuminate in
WHITE on the instrument cluster. If Adaptive Cruise
Control is already set, the symbol will be
GREEN with a speed shown.

STEP 2:

When Super Cruise detects you are on a limited-access freeway, paying
sufficient attention, and all other driving conditions are met (lane markings visible,
GPS available, no system faults, etc.), the Super Cruise symbol will illuminate in
WHITE on the instrument cluster.

STEP 3:

When it is safe to do so, press the Super Cruise button on the steering wheel
to engage Super Cruise. When the symbol and steering wheel light bar
illuminate in
GREEN, you may remove your hands from the steering wheel.
Do not remove your hands from the steering wheel unless the light bar is green,
indicating Super Cruise is steering the vehicle. To disengage Super Cruise,
press the
Super Cruise button again or press the brake pedal.

HOW IT WORKS

DRIVER ATTENTION CAMERA

To ensure safety, drivers must pay attention to the road at all times. Our proprietary head tracking software helps make sure your eyes are on the road, and alerts you when you need to pay more attention or take back control.

FIRST ALERT

If the steering wheel light bar flashes green, the
system has detected that the driver may not be paying sufficiently close attention.

The flashing will stop when the system detects that sufficiently close attention to the road has resumed.

SECOND ALERT

If the steering wheel light bar flashes green for too long, Super Cruise will alert the driver to take control of steering immediately by flashing the light bar red. Also, either beeps will sound or the Safety Alert Seat will vibrate. See “Collision/Detection Systems” under Vehicle Personalization on page 251 of the Owner’s Manual. Take over steering, then Super Cruise will disengage. To re-engage Super Cruise, press the Super Cruise button on the steering wheel.

View Owner’s Manual

THIRD ALERT

If the steering wheel light bar flashes red for too long, a voice
command will tell you to take control of the vehicle.

Take control of the steering immediately; Adaptive Cruise
Control and Super Cruise will disengage.

A Driver Information Center (DIC) message will indicate
that Super Cruise is locked out. Super Cruise cannot be
re-engaged until the next ignition cycle.

Continued failure to take over steering will cause the vehicle
to slow in your lane of travel and eventually brake to a stop
and an OnStar® advisor will be called. The brake lights and
hazard warning flashers will come on.

NEVER USE SUPER CRUISE:

· In difficult or uncertain driving conditions

· When lane markings are poor or visibility is limited

· In construction zones

· In slippery or other adverse conditions, including rain, sleet, fog, ice, or snow

· When not on a limited-access freeway separated from opposing traffic

· On a road shoulder or service drive

· In a tunnel

· When towing a trailer

FAQ

Is Super Cruise driving the vehicle?

No. Super Cruise does not perform all aspects of driving nor do everything a driver can do. Super Cruise allows the driver to drive hands-free when conditions allow the feature to be available; but, the driver needs to pay close attention to the road and be ready to take the wheel at all times.

Will Super Cruise change lanes for me or steer to avoid safety situations?

No. Super Cruise does not change lanes for you. Super Cruise also does not steer to avoid safety situations, objects, or road impediments. You must always manually steer under these situations. The driver needs to remain attentive and respond appropriately.

Can you only initiate Super Cruise on the freeway?

Correct. Super Cruise can only be used on limited-access freeways that are separated from opposing traffic and accessible by entrance and exit ramps only.

What happens if I try to activate Super Cruise when not on a limited-access freeway?

Super Cruise will not be available and a message will display in the Driver Information Center; the message will read “Super Cruise unavailable”. Super Cruise will not activate. When on a limited-access freeway, the driver should look for the white Super Cruise symbol, this shows that Super Cruise is available to use.

When do I need to manually take control of the vehicle?

You need to take control to change lanes, steer around a traffic situation or object, merge into traffic, or exit the freeway. Super Cruise does not detect construction zones. The system does not detect if you are drowsy or focused on safe driving. Always be ready to take action and take over steering or apply the brakes. Some state and local laws may not permit hands-free driving. In these locations, use Super Cruise by lightly holding the steering wheel at all times. Always know the rules in your area.
