CHARGE YOUR VEHICLE AT HOME
You can charge your electric vehicle at home with two levels of charging that each offer a different rate of charge: Level 1 3-prong outlet (120V) or Level 2 AC charging (240V) with a high-power 4-prong wall outlet or a professionally installed charging
Before charging, set your preferred charging settings:
1. Open the Charging app on your center display or mobile
a. If using Charge Later, swipe the Time Selector on the screen to adjust when you would like the vehicle to be ready.
b. Set the percentage at which you would like the vehicle to stop charging (or target charge level) by dragging the gauge marker to your desired percentage or tapping the Up and Down arrows.
3. Toggle cabin preconditioning On or Off.
a. Enabling preconditioning protects battery range by using energy from the charger (as opposed to drawing from the battery while driving) to condition your cabin.
4. Set a home location and a charging schedule with a per-day setting.
To begin charging your vehicle at home:
1. With your vehicle in PARK, locate the charging port on the outside of the vehicle:
a. Press the rear edge of the port door to pop it open.
b. If equipped with a motorized charge port door, press the emblem or indicator located on the door to open the charge port.
2. Insert the vehicle connector of a charging cable or wall charger into the connection point (called an inlet) beneath the door to begin charging.
Charging best practices:
For most GM EVs, capping your battery’s charge at 80% helps promote battery health and optimal regenerative braking performance for daily use.
To stop charging and unplug your vehicle at home:
1. Stop charging in one of the following ways:
a. Press the virtual Stop Charge button in your vehicle’s center display or in the mobile app and unplug the connector from the vehicle.
b. Press the latch release button or Request to Stop button (NACS only) on top of the vehicle connector and unplug it from the vehicle.
Note: If you’re unable to free a NACS connector from your vehicle, ensure the vehicle doors are unlocked and press the Request to Stop button again. Listen for the inlet’s locking mechanism to retract before pulling the connector out.
2. Close the charge port door in one of the following ways:
a. Manually close it and press until you hear a click.
b. Press the black rectangular button to the left of the motorized charge port door (if equipped).
c. If the vehicle has an automatic motorized charge port door, it will shut on its own when you shift out of PARK.
Note: Some vehicles will emit three beeps upon opening the driver door, reminding you to close the charge port door when left open.
Note: You do not have to wait for a charge to complete to stop charging your vehicle.
