HOW TO SEND REMOTE COMMANDS TO YOUR VEHICLE

The myCadillac mobile app lets you send Remote Commands to your vehicle,  if your vehicle is properly equipped and your active service plan supports this service. The essential controls are found on the Home Screen of your vehicle app, with additional options found by tapping the More icon (four circles) to access the Controls screen. The controls available in your app vary depending on the features of your vehicle.

Using the Remote Start command

Start the vehicle so it’s ready for your departure or cancel a remote start command.

1. From the app’s Home screen tap the Climate or start icon in the navigation bar once.

2. The button will say “Sent” once the command is successful.

3. On equipped vehicles, tapping the Climate or Start icon again cancels the remote command and/or turns the vehicle or Climate off.

‒ Change the cabin temperature using the Climate widget (this only appears when the Climate feature is on).

Remote lock/unlock

Remotely unlock or lock your vehicle’s doors.

  1.  From the app’s Home screen, tap the Lock or Unlock icon.
  2.  In addition to remote start and lock/unlock, your vehicle may also support other commands from the mobile app.
  •  Tap the More icon (four circles) to access the Controls screen and view all of your available controls. You can also tap the “I” next to the controls navigation bar for more information on Remote Commands.
  • Sound/stop alarm: Tap the Sound Alarm or Stop Alarm icon.
  • Flash lights: Tap the Flash Lights icon or the Stop Lights icon.
  • Unlock trunk/tailgate/liftgate or front closure (if equipped): Tap the Unlock Trunk, Unlock Tailgate, Unlock Liftgate, or Unlock eTrunkTM icon (depending on your model; select models only).
  • The front or rear closures will automatically re-lock after a few minutes

If the command fails, here are some things to check before attempting the command again:

  • Remove the key fob from the vehicle and ensure any manual key is removed from the ignition.
  • Make sure you are at least 10 feet away from the vehicle.
  • Check that all doors and the trunk, hood and gas cap are closed.
  • Make sure hazard lights are turned off.

If an error occurs while trying to use a remote command, go to your app’s Command History page, then:

  • Tap your initials > Settings > Command History.
  • Tap the Triangle icon to view the error and recommended resolution.

‒ If no errors are identified, continue to the next step.

  • Start the vehicle, let it run for 60 seconds, then turn the vehicle off.
  • Retry the remote command.

Q&As

I’M UNABLE TO REMOTE START OR UNLOCK MY VEHICLE WITH A REMOTE COMMAND. WHAT CAN I DO TO RESOLVE THIS?

There are many reasons a remote start or unlock could fail. Here are some things to double-check before trying the command again:

  • Turn off the vehicle. If the engine is on, this will block remote start.
  • Make sure the key fob battery is strong.
  • Confirm that your vehicle and app are connected. Both must have a stable internet connection for remote commands to be successful.
  • Make sure your mobile app version is up to date.

WHAT IF MY VEHICLE AND/OR REMOTE COMMANDS AREN’T SHOWING UP?

First, make sure you’ve selected the correct vehicle. Open the app and tap your initials, then swipe left or right to browse vehicles. Tap to select.

You can also check the connection status of your vehicle in this menu. Or you can log into the brand website for your vehicle and select Account Overview.

If your vehicle is shown as connected:

Tap your vehicle > Manage Plans > See Details to confirm remote commands are included.

If your vehicle is not listed or shown as not connected:

1. Tap Add Vehicle > your vehicle > Continue.

2. Follow the prompts to confirm vehicle/account details (be sure to enter the same phone number or email provided to your Dealer).

3. Choose where to receive a one-time passcode (OTP).

4. Enter the 6-digit code when received.

‒ If not received after 1 minute, tap “Try again” to request a new code.

5. Confirm your vehicle and OnStar plan.

6. Return to the app and sign out/sign back in.
