HOW TO USE FOLLOWING DISTANCE INDICATOR
Difficulty Level: Novice | Time Required: 2 Minutes
If your vehicle has this available feature, Following Distance Indicator displays the gap time in seconds between your vehicle and a detected vehicle you’re following. This can help you decide if you’re following too closely.†
HOW TO USE FOLLOWING DISTANCE INDICATOR TO HELP PREVENT TAILGATING
1. Following Distance Indicator uses a forward-looking camera or camera and radar sensors (depending on how your vehicle is equipped) to look directly ahead to monitor vehicles you’re following.
2. To turn Following Distance Indicator on, select the “Follow Distance Indicator/Gap Setting” page display in your instrument cluster. Once you select this, your cluster will display the following time to the vehicle ahead in seconds. The minimum following time the instrument cluster will show is 0.5 seconds.
a. Following Distance Indicator displays don’t show if Adaptive Cruise Control is on, if your vehicle has that available feature.
3. If the system doesn’t detect a vehicle ahead or if a vehicle ahead is out of sensor range, the instrument cluster will display dashes instead of a following time.
