What Is Apple Music?

The Apple Music in-vehicle app offers an ad-free music library with unlimited access to over 100 million songs. You can listen to Apple Music without connecting your smart phone to Bluetooth.® On select Cadillac vehicles, Apple Music in Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos is available, bringing you closer to the artists you love.

 

To use Apple Music, you must have an Apple Music Subscription or active trial. Access to the Apple Music in-vehicle app is included with OnStar Basics for MY25+ capable vehicles.

Does My Vehicle Have This Feature?

On your center display, the Apple Music in-vehicle app will be automatically downloaded to your infotainment system if your vehicle is eligible.

How It Works

Once you’ve confirmed you have the Apple Music icon on your center display, follow the steps below to get started:

  • To use the in-vehicle app, you must have an Apple Music subscription and an eligible OnStar plan.
  • To purchase an Apple Music subscription, you can do so from an Apple smart device by pressing the Apple Music icon and selecting Listen Now. From there, you can follow the on-screen prompts to choose a subscription and complete your purchase.
  • You can also use a web browser and navigate to music.apple.com/us/subscribe. From the website, you can create an Apple account and complete the subscription process.
  • Launch the Apple Music in-vehicle app by tapping the Apple Music icon on your vehicle’s center display
  • From there, you can log in by scanning the QR code on your center display or visiting activate.apple.com and entering the code on your center display

HOW MANY DRIVER PROFILES CAN I HAVE ON THE APPLE MUSIC IN-VEHICLE APP?

Each driver profile can be signed in to only one Apple Music account at a time. To switch accounts on a profile, sign out and sign back in with the new account. You can maintain multiple driver profiles, each using a different Apple Music account.

 

Note: Please ensure you’re using the correct vehicle profile (either the driver profile or a personally created profile) and not the vehicle’s Guest profile. The app is not available when using the Guest profile.

DO I NEED TO DOWNLOAD THE APPLE MUSIC IN-VEHICLE APP TO ACCESS IT FROM MY VEHICLE?

No, if your vehicle has an active modem, the app should appear automatically when it is available for your vehicle.

DOES THE APPLE MUSIC APP WORK WITH A FREE TIER?

No. Currently, a paid subscription or paid trial is necessary to use the Apple Music in-vehicle app.

HOW DO I KNOW IF MY VEHICLE GETS APPLE MUSIC?

You can check your vehicle’s center display. If the Apple Music in-vehicle app appears, your vehicle is equipped and ready to use. Apple Music requires specific software capability. A broader rollout to all capable GM vehicles will follow in the coming months.

HOW DO I SET APPLE MUSIC AS THE DEFAULT MUSIC APP IN MY VEHICLE?

Download the Google Home app on your phone or tablet and log in. Go to the Settings section and tap on Music. You will see a list of apps that you can set as your default for Google. Select Apple Music as your default. You may need to follow additional prompts to link your account.

WHAT VEHICLES ARE AVAILABLE FOR THE APPLE MUSIC IN‑VEHICLE APP?

Apple Music requires specific software capability. At this time, the following models are planned to support Apple Music; however, availability will vary by vehicle software. A broader rollout to all capable GM vehicles will follow in the coming months.

 

Note: Not all vehicles within the listed model years will support Apple Music. Availability depends on software capability and may differ by vehicle and trim.
