ABOUT EV FEATURES IN YOUR VEHICLE MOBILE APP

The myCadillac app can help simplify your electric vehicle experience with charging tools, route planning and more. It also gives you access to vehicle information, like your charge level, from anywhere using your compatible phone. To use these features, you must first accept the app’s Terms and Conditions, and Privacy Statement.

  • If it is plugged in and scheduled to charge, the estimated completion time is displayed.
  • Tap the tile to access the full charge status page, which offers additional information:
    • View the type of charger being used (e.g., portable cordset, DC fast charging, etc.).
    • View settings for the current location (charge limit, charge mode, etc.).
    • View charging notifications and alerts (e.g., plug-in reminder, charge interrupted).

EV features in the app

Tap the Map icon on the app’s home screen to view your range on a map, search for charging stations, see your vehicle’s location and more. For the best experience, set up your home/work locations during the initial walk-through or through the screen search.

  • Explore range:
    • Tap the EXPLORE RANGE icon to see how far you can travel and return back based on your current state of charge, represented by a dotted line.
    • You’ll see an alert if you’re outside the range of your home charging location.

  • Nearby charging stations:
    • From the Map screen, tap the Places or Stations tab beneath the search bar or use the SEARCH icon to view charging stations at a different destination (e.g., if you’re traveling to another city).
    • Tap the Slider icon to filter the search results (e.g., charging provider, type of charging station, charging station power, plug and charge capability).
    • Tap a station to view details like availability, user reviews, images and more.
    • Search for Points of Interest (POI), such as restaurants or shopping, near the station.

    • Open the directions in your preferred navigation app (use Apple CarPlay™ or Android Auto™, if your vehicle has those features).
    • Adjust the settings for your trip as needed (e.g., tailor your vehicle’s charge plan, add Return Home if needed).
    • If your vehicle supports Apple CarPlay or Android Auto and you’re connected, you can tap Start Driving to monitor your route.

  • Plug and Charge:
    • Lets you pull up to a compatible DC fast-charging station, insert the charging cable and have the charging session begin automatically.
    • To use this feature, you’ll be asked to complete a one-time activation within the app and you must have a compatible third-party charging account (e.g., EVgo) with a valid payment method on file linked to your vehicle’s mobile app. You must first activate IONNA, which is a national fast charging network, under “Supported Networks” within the myCadillac app Public Charging screen or have a compatible third-party charging account (e.g., EVgo) with a valid payment method on file linked to your vehicle mobile app.
    • To link/unlink select third-party charging accounts, tap the Menu icon (3 dots in the upper-right corner), then select Public Charging Services.
    • After you finish setup, you can plug in the charging cable and energy will start to flow to your vehicle.

  • Charge-by-App:

      • Select the ellipsis (…) in the top-right corner.
      • Choose Public Charging Services from the options.
      • Activate Tesla Supercharger under “Supported Networks” or link your third-party charging account by following the prompts.
      • Make sure you have a valid payment method saved within your third-party charging account.

Charging using the North American Charging Standard (NACS)

You can also find, start and pay for charging sessions at a compatible NACS station using the myCadillac app.

  • To begin, go to the Account Menu (circle with your initials) on the app menu and select Public Charging.
  • On the Public Charging screen, select the “Activate” prompt next to “Supported Networks” and follow the instructions. When you start a charging session from the myCadillac mobile app on the Tesla Supercharger Network, you’ll only be charged for the energy you use.
  • Depending on your vehicle, you may need to purchase a compatible NACS DC adapter for your vehicle. You can do this within the myCadillac app.

Note: If you have a NACS-native GM electric vehicle, you may need additional adapters: the GM CCS1 DC Adapter for DC fast charging at non-NACS stations and the GM J1772 AC Adapter for Level 2 charging.

Q&As

CAN I USE A TESLA SUPERCHARGER TO CHARGE MY GM VEHICLE?

Yes. As of September 2024, GM has adopted the North American Charging Standard. This means your GM electric vehicle will be able to access the NACS Network if you have a NACS-native GM electric vehicle or purchase a GM-approved NACS DC adapter and set up public charging in the myCadillac app.

CAN I USE A NORTH AMERICAN CHARGING STANDARDS (NACS)-COMPATIBLE PUBLIC CHARGE FOR MY GM VEHICLE WITHOUT SELECTING A CHARGER PLAN IN THE MYCADILLAC APP?

No. The NACS network requires an app to start charging and pay for charging, since the charging stations don’t have card readers on them. You’ll need to use the myCadillac app to enroll in public charging and save a valid payment plan. You’ll also need to order a NACS DC adapter if your vehicle has a CCS1/1772 charge port.

WHAT IS CHARGE-BY-APP?

Charge-by-App is a feature in the myCadillac app that lets EV users remotely start a charging session on a compatible level 2 or DC fast charger. Here’s how to activate the feature:

  • Tap the Map tab on the Home screen.

WHAT IS PLUG AND CHARGE?

Plug and Charge is a feature in the myCadillac app that lets you authorize and initiate a charging session at a compatible DC fast charging station. Just plug in the charging cable, and the charging process begins. To use this feature, you'll need to complete a one-time activation within the app. Here's how:

  • Tap the Map tab on the Home screen.
  • Select the ellipsis (…) in the top-right corner.
  • Choose Public Charging Services from the options.
  • Activate IONNA (a national fast charging network) under “Supported Networks” or link your third-party charging account by following the prompts.
  • Make sure you have a valid payment method saved within your third-party charging account.
