Learn about the core charge applied to certain automotive parts, how it’s used to encourage recycling and how to get your core charge refund.

AUTOMOTIVE PARTS CORE CHARGE & RETURN

Certain automotive parts can be recycled and remanufactured for future use. These parts have a “core charge” that is used as a deposit on the portion of the part that can be reused to encourage its return. When the recyclable component from your old part is returned to us, the charge is refunded to you.

To receive your core charge refund:

For ship-to-home parts, visit https://acdelcocorerefund.com and follow the instructions to complete your return and refund request
For pickup orders or parts installed at a dealer, you must return the part(s) to the same dealer where purchased/installed

Note: Full core rebate is paid only if the core passes inspection and is as complete as the product provided, missing no parts and returned in the ACDelco box the new part was received in. Make sure to drain all liquids and place it in a plastic bag to avoid leakage during the return process. The core return must be received within 6 months of the purchase date of your new or remanufactured unit. The core return may be rejected if the part being returned is not properly packaged.

WHAT IS A “CORE CHARGE” FOR MY PART ORDER?

Certain automotive parts — including brake master cylinders, water pumps, alternators and AC compressors — can be recycled and remanufactured for future use. These parts have a “core charge” that is used essentially as a deposit on the portion of the part that can be reused. The reason for this charge is to encourage the return of your old part. When the recyclable component from your old part is returned, meets specified return conditions and passes inspection, the charge is refunded to you.

There are two ways to receive your core charge refund:

If you had the product shipped to your home, visit here and follow the instructions to complete your return and refund request
If you picked up the part or had it installed, the core must be returned to the seller’s location where it was purchased

For full details on the core refund process, visit here. Please make sure to drain all liquids and place the part in a plastic bag to avoid leakage during the return process. The core must be complete and returned in its original GM Genuine Parts or ACDelco box and received within six months of the purchase date of your new or remanufactured unit.
