HOW TO OPERATE POWER DOORS

When enabled, Power Doors allow you to open and close the vehicle’s doors with the press of a button. Or you can open the doors manually with Power Assist.

OPENING AND CLOSING POWER DOORS

Operating Power Doors to Enter the Vehicle

1. Press the button on the inner surface of the exterior door handle to open.

- This will unlock, unlatch and open the door.

Note: The key fob must be in range to unlock the vehicle if the vehicle is locked.

2. Press the button as the door is opening to stop the door.

3. Press the button again and the door will automatically close.

Note: To lock the door from outside the vehicle, use the touch-sensitive emblem that’s located on the door handle (right of center). Avoid touching this switch while operating Power Doors.

Manual Open with Power Assist

If you’d rather open your doors manually, Power Doors can still assist you:

  • Press and hold the exterior door-handle button as you pull the door open.
  • To close the door, press the button on the exterior door handle or push closed as with a non-powered door.

Operating Power Doors from Inside the Vehicle

Open and close your Power Doors two ways:

  • Using the interior door handles
  • Through the Front Command Center touch-screen (or rear screen, if equipped)

Note: Power Doors will not open with a slight pull if the vehicle is moving at a speed greater than 3 km/h (approximately 2 mph).

Interior Door Handles (front seat):

1. Locate the metal door handle on the door-panel armrest.

2. Use a slight pull upward to open the door automatically.

- This will unlock, unlatch and open the door.

3. Pull the handle all the way upward if the vehicle loses power.

- This will allow the doors to open mechanically.

- Using a full pull in a vehicle that hasn’t lost power will still activate Power Doors.

Interior Door Handles (rear seat):

1. If the vehicle is locked, give the door handle a slight pull to unlock the door.

2. Use a second slight pull to open it.

3. Pull the handle all the way upward if the vehicle loses power.

To perform a power close from inside the vehicle, pull the interior handle or use the command center consoles.

Controlling Power Doors with the Command Centers (if enabled in Settings)

If Power Doors are enabled (Settings > Vehicle > Doors and Locks > Power Doors), you can control them as described below:

1. When you enter the vehicle, the Power Doors screen will display on the Front Command Center touch-screen (or rear touch-screen, if equipped).

2. Press and swipe the arrows (<<) outward near the door you’d like to open.

- A virtual Stop button will appear while the door is moving, showing the progress of the door with a red bar.

3. Tap Stop to stop the door as it’s opening.

- A virtual Close button will appear beside any door that’s open.

- If a door is blocked, you’ll see an on-screen notification.

4. Press and swipe the arrows (>>) inward to close any open door.

Note: Control of the Power Doors through the Command Center(s) is only available if your Power Doors are enabled in Settings. Messages alerting you of Power Doors malfunctions will appear in the Driver Information Center (DIC).

Locking/Unlocking Power Doors with the Command Centers

You can lock or unlock your doors and control Child Safety Locks from the Front Command Center using the virtual icons on the Power Doors screen.

1. Tap the Lock or Unlock icon to lock or unlock all doors.

3. Select on or off.

Note: Some functions, including Child Safety Locks and the charge port door, are shown on the Front Command Center screen only.

Customizing Door Settings

In your center display, you can set how far your Power Doors open. Go to Settings > Vehicle > Doors and Locks > Power Doors and select from these options:

  • Slight Opening – approximately 10% open
  • Standard Opening – a little over halfway open
  • Maximum Opening – almost fully open
  • Manual – the Power Doors feature is off

Brake to Close

If desired, you can set your driver’s door to close automatically when you press the brake pedal while starting your vehicle. Go to Settings > Vehicle> Doors and Locks > Brake to Close Driver Door. If enabled, Brake to Close is available even if your Power Doors customization is set to Manual.

Q&As

HOW DOES THE SYSTEM HELP ENSURE THE DOORS WON'T AUTOMATICALLY OPEN WITH PEOPLE OR OTHER OBSTACLES IN THE DOOR'S SWING PATH?

Power Doors have radar technology designed to sense outside obstacles and stop the door from automatically opening. This helps ensure that people and objects outside the vehicle are not impacted.
